Jeremy Iversen

Jeremy Watt Iversen is an American actor, author, and speaker from Manhattan, New York, known for his book ''High School Confidential''. Iversen attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Stanford University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with dual degrees in international relations and political science.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.jeremyiversen.com/bio.htm )〕 He has also previously worked in New York as a runway model.〔
==''High School Confidential''==
At age 23, Iversen enrolled undercover at Claremont High School with the school's permission, pretending to be an ordinary high school student transferring from another school.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/060917/25qa.htm )〕 The undertaking was partially influenced by Cameron Crowe's similar actions while writing the book and movie for Fast Times at Ridgemont High as well as a way for Iversen to experience "the normal American growing-up experience", as he had previously only attended boarding schools.〔 After finishing out the school year, Iversen wrote the book ''High School Confidential: Secrets of an Undercover Student'', which was published through Simon & Schuster. Iversen initially did not intend to reveal the name of the school he attended, referring to it as "Mirador High" in the book and using composite characters of the students and teachers, as well as attempting to blur any identifying characteristics of individuals or the school.〔''High School Confidential'', pg. xi〕 The true name of the school was later revealed by members of the Claremont High newspaper, the ''Wolfpacket'', through the ''Los Angeles Times'' after Iversen began to appear on television shows and other media to promote the book.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-schoolme25sep25,0,4620915.column )〕 The Los Angeles Times later awarded the ''Wolfpacket'' with an ''ad hoc'' student journalism award for its exposé.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://articles.latimes.com/2005/may/27/local/me-award27 )
The factuality of the contents of the book were also challenged by the ''Los Angeles Times Bob Sipchen and other papers, who quoted students as saying that they had suspected that Iversen was a "plant" and that several had exaggerated information because of this.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.dailybulletin.com/upland/ci_4104567 )〕 Other students claimed that the book was "dead on" and that "As far as who () was as a person, he was really consistent".〔
Reviews for the book were mixed to positive, with the ''Library Journal'' and ''Booklist'' praising ''High School Confidential''.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.booklistonline.com/High-School-Confidential-Secrets-of-an-Undercover-Student-Jeremy-Iversen/pid=1739141 )Publishers Weekly gave a mixed review, stating that although the book could be "entertaining" they saw the "grandiose statements" and "the author's preface about ""compromises with characters and chronology""" as things that would "() reportorial integrity".〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0-7432-8363-2 )〕 John Derbyshire in ''National Review'' felt the book had few surprises and its dominant theme was the mediocrity of everyone in the school.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/222004/want-drink/john-derbyshire )
